William - The kindest horse on earth and an eventer at that.

William, a Chestnut Dutch Warmblood gelding, was another of Philippa's horses.

He was the kindest horse on earth. One of my fondest memory was of William looking after a small child and sharing their biscuit with them. William was a real nanny.

William was an all round horse, but his real strength was his Eventing. Together Philippa and William were some of the brightest up and coming prospects for the Junior British team.

Unfortunatly, one day when doing some roadwork they walked past some garden gates and a couple of dogs jumped up against them and they burst open. This surprised William and he jumped. When he landed he twisted his back leg and did some serious damage to his tendons.

He was never properly sound again and that was the end of their eventing career. Nevertheless William still enjoyed the odd bit of jumping now and again.

Even though he could not do much jumping he could still win a show hunter class.

And then there was his last day out in the field with his good friend Arrie.
