Rosara - The new girl in my life15 September 2001 Rosara belongs to a friend of mine. I have been mumbling for a while that I was trying to find another horse, and while she was down playing at Ascot Park one weekend she let me play a chukka of Rosara. Now at 12 years old she is older than I would have liked - having not had much luck getting horses past 11 years! But it is clear that there are plenty of polo ponies playing into their late 20s. Rosara comes from a good breeding background, and as you can see she has excellent conformation for polo. To ride she is very easy ... in fact for me it feels like something is missing ... I am too used to riding the ever enthusiastic leaping George!
30 September 2001 Now I didn't take many (any) pictures of the horses there, I was too busy riding and trying to avoid the approaching rain. But what was very funny was their two Pot-Belly pigs. They would give Bert a run for his money ... they sit for jelly babies! Well its good to know that Rosara and Foxdale are not scared of pigs ... exactly what use that is I have yet to discover. 6 October 2001 It really makes no sense .. but she is very cute and very pretty. I think we will have lots of fun. Everyone keep telling me that she is a smashing horse and that I am very lucky and have done well to get her ... if it is true it has precious little to do with me and I must thank her kind ex-owner for thinking of me because I don't realy think it is possible to make a meaningful sentence with the words "horses", "Nick" and "sensible". Like all my horses, and probably most other people's, these have a healthy appetite and are probably going to eat me out of house and home. Just to confuse Bert and see if he was paying attention, I put her out with him in the field over night rather than George ... They seem to have got on fine. And now as my equine family grows uncontrollably around me, its time to find an evening job! Well as the first day of the rest of our lives draws to a close and all the little ponies are tucked up for bed, the pressures and demands burdened on a single dad remain ... the perpetual demands for food, food and more food! |
