Plato - The best coloured stallion I have ever seen.

Plato was a wonderful coloured stallion I had the pleasure of knowing for a good few years. He is by one of the Queens horses, "Mars", and out of a fine mare called "Cherry". His is a colourful story ...

Plato is a British bred piebald stallion. He is a C.H.A.P.S (UK) Premium Stallion and last time I checked had the highest ever grading mark to date.

Mars, his sire, is related to the famous "Marco Polo", which "Milton" is also a direct descendant. Cherry (TB), his dam, is related to the famous racing sire "Relic".

Horses - Plato`s stock
Plato throws excelent stock to most mares.

Just before we split up Plato was hit by a car on the roads. Philippa was badly trumatised and I took over riding Plato.

Although the vets could not find anything wrong with him, after about six months he started getting very difficuilt to ride. When the vets looked at him later they found an injury to his spine from the fall after the accident.

The big disaster was working him through the injury, becuase much of the trouble we had was not due to him being naughty but because of the injury, but the vets could not diagnose it till much too late. I dread to think how much damage we did trying to work him.

He has had an operation on his spine and been off work for over a year. I gather he is now back in work, covering mares and picking up where he left off.

I only hope he can realise he competative potential after the accident and the resulting trauma.

I don't see Plato anymore, and all I know is that I miss him a lot. There is nothing like the experience of a relationship with a stallion. They are much harder animals to deal with. They demand personal attention, dedication, strength of character and kindness ... the rewards are special.
