19 March 2000
Well its been sitting there idle for long enough ... it is time to take Bertie out on an excursion in his new trailer.

I have had Bert about eight months now, and in January 2000 I got him a nice blue trailer ... in case we got adventurous. The trailer has been parked now for about two months and hasn’t moved an inch.

The plan was to go and visit a friend and go to the beach. So Bert packed his swimming trunks and water wings and off we went half way round the M25 in search of our friend and some water to gallop along.

Not all plans work out ... we never got as far as the beach, be we made it to our friends yard and went for a nice hack in a different environment.

Bert was very taken back by the grass ... he doesn’t see much where he lives ... you could see he was pining for something ... so the yard manager kindly suggested that we turn him out for an hour before we left ...

Bert is weird. He galloped around a bit and then spent the next 45 minutes standing at the side of the field watching with transfixed interest the other horses and the riding lesson that was going on ... not a single thought of grass ... Bert loves to watch things!!!
