NOTES FOR NET SURFERS
Branston is real, although most other names of real
people have been changed. All of the places mentioned
exist, so if you are not from England then some of the
geography may lose you a bit.
If you are not from England then you may be unaware of
Branston Pickle. This is a proprietary condiment made by
Crosse & Blackwell, and is especially delicious when eaten
with bread and cheese or salad dishes. It contains many
ingredients, but the result in the jar is a rich dark brown
colour with a lumpy consistency.
Branston loves fox-hunting, and some of the stories revolve
around this. If you have an ethical objection to this sport
then you have the choice of not reading any further. None
of the stories contains anything that should offend a
reasonable person, but you will find opinions expressed
which are decidedly not in sympathy with your own views.
Please do not engage in an email debate regarding this
subject, because you will be ignored.
